MANAGE YOUR OWN WEBSITE

UPDATE YOUR CONTENT. NO DEVELOPER NEEDED.

Every ICENI website comes with a clean, simple content dashboard. Change your text, swap your images, and keep your site up to date — on your schedule, without calling anyone.

THE PROBLEM WITH MOST WEBSITES

YOU SHOULDN'T NEED TO CALL US FOR A SIMPLE TEXT CHANGE.

One of the most common frustrations we hear from small business owners is that updating their website means emailing a developer, waiting for a response, paying for an hour of work, and hoping it gets done correctly. For something as simple as changing a phone number or updating business hours.

That should not be the reality. Your website is your property, and your content should be yours to manage.

Every site we build includes a content management system — a simple dashboard where you can edit the parts of your site that need to change. We configure it specifically around your workflow, so you only see what you need to edit. No cluttered menus, no risk of accidentally breaking the design.

HOW IT WORKS

WHAT YOU CAN DO FROM YOUR DASHBOARD

EDIT TEXT & IMAGES

Update your headlines, body copy, and images directly from your browser. No code, no FTP, no developer required.

CHANGES LIVE IN MINUTES

Save your changes and an automatic rebuild kicks off. Your site updates itself — usually live within a couple of minutes.

NO TRAINING REQUIRED

We set up your dashboard and walk you through exactly what you need. If you can use email, you can manage your site.

CONFIGURED FOR YOUR WORKFLOW

We don't hand you a complex system and wish you luck. We configure it around what you specifically need to edit — nothing more, nothing less.

GIVE STAFF ACCESS

Need a team member to update the menu or post announcements? We can set up individual logins with access to only what they need.

NOTHING TO BREAK

Your design, layout, and code are locked. Editors can only change content — so there is no way to accidentally undo something that took hours to build.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EDITING AND BUILDING

There is an important distinction between managing your content and managing your website. Most page builders like Wix and Squarespace blur that line — you are given access to the entire site structure, which means the risk of breaking something is real and constant.

The way we build things keeps those two things separate. Your developer-built design, layout, and functionality are completely protected. Your content — the words, images, and information — is what you control. That separation is intentional, and it means you can make updates with confidence.

The system we use is called Directus. It is a modern, open-source content platform used by organisations around the world, from small businesses to large enterprises. For our clients, it presents as a clean, minimal dashboard tailored specifically to their site — with only the fields relevant to their content visible.

You do not need to know what Directus is to use it. Most clients are comfortable updating their own content within the first session after handover. We provide a short training walkthrough as part of every build, and we are always available if you get stuck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

THINGS PEOPLE USUALLY ASK

What can I actually edit myself?

That depends on your site, but typically: page text, images, team members, services, pricing, opening hours, and any other content that needs to change regularly. We configure the dashboard to match your specific site during the build.

What if I make a mistake?

Content changes can be reviewed and reverted. Your design and layout are completely protected — editors can only change content fields, not the structure or code of the site.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The dashboard runs in your browser. You log in from any device — desktop, tablet, or phone — with just a username and password.

Is this available on all plans?

The CMS is included on our Build and Manage plans. The Handled plan is fully managed by us, so content updates are handled as part of your included monthly hours.
